Me-Made-May 2015

Eeee, I’m so excited and a little nervous. After seeing it mentioned online for the last few years, I decided to give Me-Made-May a try this time!

me-made-may'14This challenge was created by Zoe of the ‘So, Zo…’ blog from the UK. I love Zoe’s approach to sewing — fun, down to earth, practical and always honest. There is also an ethical, eco-friendly slant to her writing that you don’t see on most sewing blogs.

The idea is that over the month of May, participants break out their “me-made” wardrobe and make an effort to wear it more than usual. It isn’t about competing with other participants, but challenging yourself, enjoying the garments you’ve made and possibly making new items to filll gaps in your wardrobe. I haven’t participated in the past, but this year I thought I’d join in the fun. To be honest, I haven’t made too many garments that I wear on a regular basis, but I think this may be a nice excuse to wear those items and to make a couple more. Most participants seem to be pledging to wear something me-made every day in May. I pledged to wear garments I’ve sewn at least twice a week, but I’m going to try for more.

Stay tuned! (I promise I won’t be posting selfies for a month!)
