Show and Tell: ISS Soyuz Parachute Bags

Posted in: Show and Tell — By on November 5, 2010 7:12 AM

Here at Sewing School, we are all about upcycling, or creating new things out of old fabrics.  When we came across these bags by Everquest Design on the Gear Diary blog, we were over the moon! (he he he…)

Everquest Design has taken the landing parachute for the Russian Soyuz spacecraft that transported three astronauts back to Earth from the International Space Station in 2004 to create a line of messenger bags:

The rest of the bag is made using recycled plastics, and the strap is actually a reused seatbelt!  We like.

Everquest Design also features bags made with a previous Soyuz parachute, original iPod billboards, Nike billboards, Mount Everest tents, sails from the America Cup and more.  Check out their website for more info!
